Someone told me about a simple way to make Apple Cider vinegar this past summer. I decided to give it a try this fall. I’m not sure how it will work out, but that’s the fun, right? Essentially, we are just taking windfall apples, putting them in a bucket, covering with a cheese cloth, and letting it turn into vinegar. In a few months, we’ll filter all the solids out and hopefully we’ll have vinegar or we could let it sit for a while longer.
Has anyone else done something like this? What should I know? I will keep everyone updated along the way.
–Supplies Used–
-5 Gallon Buckets – I suggest asking around for these. Often can get food grade versions from bakeries. I asked on Nextdoor.com and got a great response. Otherwise, snatch some up here
–Cheese Cloth
–Rubber Bands – I ended up getting these “File Rubber Bands” and they worked perfectly.
