Week 6 Weigh-In : Weight Loss

I am on a weight loss journey that I started May 17th. Each week I weigh in and let ya’ll know how I’m doing. If you’d like more frequent updates, follow me on Twitter.

Where I’m at (324 starting):

Weight: 320lbs.

How it is going

It isn’t.

I haven’t exercised since week 2… yikes! I’ve only lasted 2 weeks… and i haven’t done anything in a month. Dang! I have plenty of excuses. It has been an incredibly busy month at home and at work, but I certainly could have found time to exercise. Two weeks ago I stepped on the scale and I was 316.6 pounds and last week I was 316 even. That is an 8 pound loss!!

This week I’ve gone up 4 pounds. I think my scale is messed up. I weigh myself 3 times, one right after the other, and the number can fluctuate as much as 1.4 pounds. It is electric, btw. Can I trust this scale!?! Anyway, the weight-loss made me lax, but the weight gain will get me going again.

BUT, I’ve been extremely good about keeping my sugar intake low (less than 30 grams a day). It was difficult for a few days, but after that it wasn’t quite as hard as I would have imagined. I think part of the reason that is the case is that I haven’t cut it out completely. This allows me some flexibility. If I know that I’ll be at an event (say a wedding) in which I know they are going to have a meaningful dessert, I can simple avoid all sugar until that point in the day. Even then, I don’t need ice cream on top, or anything like that. Easy.

Wish me luck!

I have a vintage wire scale at home that works perfect; I love it. (Sometimes I double check with one of those official-ey doctors scales we have in our office. I’m sure MPTC has one of those hiding around that you could double check with.

Keep pushing yourself to stay active. I think that’s the hardest part. I’ve started working split shifts at work so that I can ride my bike when I don’t have to drive for an assignment.
